Ty-Du is a small mansion by Haverford standards, only 12 bedrooms, and seldom visited by the Duke of Haverford or any member of his immediate family. His Grace has had occasion to spend several weeks at a time here, however, when overseeing crucial purchases or development in the Welsh mining interests that underpin part of the Haverford wealth.
David Wakefield was born to the daughter of a Haverford mine manager some nine and a half months after Haverford first noticed her while visiting the mine, and eight months and a half after he had left Wales.
Ty-Du means Black House.
